The Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario vehemently condemns the Zionist entity’s attacks on Iran and its ongoing genocide in Palestine. We affirm our unwavering support for and solidarity with all those struggling against imperialist violence in West Asia (so-called Middle East) and across the world.

On June 13, 2025, the so-called state of Israel launched a series of attacks on Iran, and since then has continued to escalate in aggression – killing over 200 people and leaving thousands injured to-date. These attacks come as a result of months of warmongering and unsubstantiated claims, via Western nations, surrounding Iran’s nuclear capabilities and plans. The recent actions of the Zionist entity come as no surprise; Western imperialism and hegemony have emboldened and enabled the apartheid state to enact and further its systematic violence with impunity.

At the G7 summit this past week, Canada along with other world leaders released a statement reaffirming support for the Zionist state, under the guise of maintaining “peace”. This is yet another attempt to manufacture consent for the genocide and justify the increasing escalations in violence, and in providing direct material support. They continue to engage in proxy wars to avoid direct and visible responsibility while simultaneously reaping the benefits of imperial violence across the world. Historically, students have stood at the forefront in every instance of injustice. We recognize that the same playbook has been previously used to manufacture consent in several imperialist wars that destabilized other nations and left lasting effects that many nations still deal with today.

Our institutions also play an integral role in the maintenance and advancement of imperialism; as extensions of the state, they too aim to manufacture consent for genocide and colonial violence. As students, it is imperative that we continue to remain critical and steadfast in our opposition to our institutions and governments and their commitments to furthering settler-colonialism and imperialism across the world. Whether the ongoing genocide in Palestine or the many attacks from Iran to Lebanon, the complicity and culpability of our colleges, universities, and governments must be confronted.

The Federation joins students across the province in demanding;

  1. Full disclosure and divestment from weapons and arms manufacturers and any investments that support the Zionist entity.
  2. Denouncement of the genocide and occupation in Palestine as well as the violence perpetrated by the so-called state of Israel.
  3. An end to the state-sanctioned repression of students organizing against the complicity of their institutions.
