The Canadian Federation of Students–Ontario seeks a Fieldworker, to coordinate campaigns, services and membership development, and to provide support to campus students’ unions. The Canadian Federation of Students–Ontario (CFS-O) represents 350,000 college and university students from 35 students’ unions in Ontario. CFS–Ontario is an autonomous, incorporated, not-for profit organization, affiliated with the Canadian Federation of Students, which brings together over 500,000 students across Canada. Contract duration: Full-time, permanent position

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fieldworker shall undertake duties as directed by the Federation’s Ontario Executive. Such duties include, but are not limited to:
Campaigns and Services Implementation: Working with representatives in the Federation’s Toronto and Ottawa offices to coordinate the implementation of Federation campaigns and services; and assisting with the planning and implementation of Federation campaigns and services on member local campuses.
Campus Students’ Union Support: Maintaining contact in English and French, as appropriate, with member students’ unions on a regular basis and providing bilingual support in the development and implementation of locally directed and determined campaigns and services.
Membership Development: Assisting with the development and implementation of member outreach strategies, including making presentations to college and university students’ unions and other student organizations.
General Work: Attending and assisting with the organizing of provincial and national general membership meetings and executive meetings; engaging in collective office work, including general operational and day-to-day administrative responsibilities; working collectively with the other Federation staff; and performing additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College or university education, or equivalent work experience;
- Current knowledge of the Ontario government and the Canadian political process, and of the aims of and issues facing the student movement in Ontario and Canada;
- Knowledge of the Canadian Federation of Students–Ontario, the Canadian Federation of Students and the representation and services provided to their membership;
- Experience in the student movement in Canada;
- Demonstrated experience and skills in coordinating campaigns around specific demands;
- Experience and skills in organizing volunteers and coordinating education and outreach initiatives;
- Demonstrated experience and skills in project management, assessment and service delivery;
- Strong written communication skills and strong oral communication skills;
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and the Office Suite (2011 and above), Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Version 5 and above); and proficiency in working in a Macintosh environment;
- Willingness to travel; and
- Ability to be Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
The main office for the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario is located in downtown Toronto. All staff are expected to work out of our Toronto office. In addition, from time-to-time the Fieldworker is required to travel across the province to provide support to student unions on the implementation of Federation campaigns, services and initiatives.
